Wendill F. Honeycutt, 69, died Sunday, June 16, 2013 in Amarillo. Services will be at 2:00 PM Friday, June 21, 2013, at Highland Baptist Church, with Pastor Paul Nachtigall, officiating. Burial will follow in Memory Gardens Cemetery under the direction of Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors. Mr. Honeycutt was born February 16, 1944 in Wellington. As a young boy, his family moved to Pampa where he attended Pampa schools. He married Virginia Chandler on July 2, 1964 in Pampa. He worked in the oilfield before joining the City of Pampa in 1965, retiring in 2006 after 41 years of service. Wendill was a Baptist. He loved the outdoors where he enjoyed hunting, riding 4-wheelers and fishing. Most of all, he loved his family, especially his grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, Glenn and Elwanda Honeycutt; and a brother, Buster Newman. Survivors include his wife, Virginia Honeycutt of the home; 2 daughters, Belinda Brown and husband Terry, and Starla Phelps and husband Jonathan, all of Pampa; 5 sisters, Alice Appleton of Ohio, Bonnie Cross and husband Tinker of Pampa, LaFonda Darnail and husband Jim of Colorado Springs, Colorado, Glenda Albus of Dallas, and Sandy Pendergrass and husband Billy of Oklahoma; 3 brothers, Danny Honeycutt of Oklahoma, Mike Honeycutt and wife LaDonna of Pampa, and Terry Honeycutt of Lubbock; 10 grandchildren and 1 great-grandchild.
