James Scott Smith

Services will be at 10:00 AM Monday, October 22, 2012, at First Baptist Church, with Rev. Barry Owens, associate pastor, and Herb Smith, officiating.Burial will follow at Memory Gardens Cemetery under the direction of Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors.Mr. Smith was born April 10, 1960 in Pampa. He graduated from Pampa High School in 1978 and attended Texas Tech University. Scott married Leslie Epps on June 10, 1994 in Pampa. He was employed by Thurmond-McGlothlin for 36 years. He was an instructor for ISHM (International School of Hydrocarbon Measurement) Scott was an avid pilot and loved flying his Bonanza for work and pleasure; he received his instrument rating in July 2011. He was the current president and past board member of the Southwest Bonanza Society, as well as a member of the American Bonanza Society. Scott was a board member of the Perry Lefors Airport. He was a member of the First Baptist Church and Everyman's Bible Class. Scott was an avid Texas Rangers and Texas Tech Red Raider fan. He was a loving husband, father and brother. Scott will be missed by all who knew him.Survivors include his wife: Leslie Smith of the home; a son: James Adam Smith of Ft. Worth; a daughter: Kayla Ann Smith of Lubbock; 2 step-sons: Chris Epps of Pampa and Jerad Epps and wife Ashley of Lubbock; 2 brothers: Barry Smith of Weatherford, Oklahoma and Derrick Smith of Odessa; and a future grandchild due March 23, 2013.
