Memorial services will be at 2:00 PM Friday, October 26, 2012, at Southside Baptist Church, in Albertville, Alabama, with Rev. Earl Mitchell officiating. Cremation and arrangements are under the direction of Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors of Pampa, Texas. Mrs. Cortner was born June 18th, 1937 in Fyffe, Alabama to William Wesley and Jewell Estelle Maddox Yancey. She married William Matthew "Bill" Cortner III on December 22, 1956. Mrs. Cortner made wonderful homes for her family in multiple locations in the Southeast United States, in Germany, and in Greece during her husband's military service, eventually settling in Albertville, Alabama in 1975. She and Bill recently moved to Pampa in December 2011. Mrs. Cortner was preceded in death by her parents William Wesley Yancey and Jewell Estelle (Maddox) Yancey; brothers Homer, Charles, and Harmon Yancey; her sister Jewell McAbee; and infant sister Mary Nell Yancey.Survivors include her husband: William Matthew "Bill" Cortner III of Pampa; her son: William Matthew Cortner IV and wife Nancy of Clinton, Ohio; her daughter: Karen Cortner Lang and husband Mark of Pampa; her sister: Joyce Bruce and husband Kelton of Astor, Florida; four grandchildren; four great grandchildren; and six nieces and nephews. The family would like to extend special thanks to Sylvia Munoz, and Carmen, Debra, Robbie, and Debbie at Interim Hospice for their gracious and compassionate care given to Frances and for opening their hearts to her family.In lieu of flowers, the family request memorials may be made to the Pampa Animal Welfare Society, P.O.
