August 22, 1928 — September 26, 2012

Services will be at 2:00 PM Monday, October 1, 2012, at Central Church of Christ in Amarillo, with Bob Crass, senior adult minister, officiating.Burial will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery in Amarillo, under the direction of Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors of Pampa. Mary was born on August 22, 1928 in Shamrock, the daughter of Matt and Martha Campbell, and sister to five brothers and four sisters. She adored her parents and her siblings. Mary's mother was full blood Creek Indian which made she and her siblings half Creek Indian. They were a very close knit family that had their roots in the Texas panhandle with the parents struggling to raise and provide for ten children during the Great Depression. The family had very little in the way of monetary things but an abundance of love, joy, and devotion to each other that has remained strong to this day with now only two of those children remaining.Mary met the man of her dreams when she was 14 years old. She married George Windell Terry on October 29, 1943 in Shamrock, and remained married to him until his death in 2003.Mary had the gift of gab and a wicked sense of humor. She was known by many in the family as "the Queen" and she most definitely lived up to that moniker until the very end! She will be severely missed by all!Mary lived in Austin for the last eight years with her daughter and son-in-law, Gail and Tom Glass. Recently, she spent four months living in Pampa, residing with her son and daughter-in-law, Bill and Jenni Terry. For the last two years, Mary had struggled with heart and lung disease. She wrestled with it in the only way she knew which was with bravado, gusto, hope, and a great deal of frustration. She loved life and had faith that she could overcome each new obstacle her illness presented to the bitter end.Mary is survived by her children: Gail Terry Glass and husband Tom of Austin, and Bill Terry and wife Jenni of Pampa; one step-son: Jimmy Terry of Paris, France; eight grandchildren, five step-grandchildren, six great-grandchildren, two step great grandchildren, and three great, great grandchildren; her brother: Bob Campbell of Amarillo; and her sister: Mrs. Jane Campbell Long of Odessa; along with many nieces and nephews.Mary was preceded in death by her mother and father, seven siblings, her daughter: Ann Terry Dunham; and one step-son: Jackie Terry.
