Donna Jo Evans was born on May 30, 1922 in Electra, Texas to Joe and Josie Berry. They later moved to Pampa, Texas, where DJ grew up around the oil refineries that her father managed.She met Clinton Evans, the love of her life, in Pampa and they were married in 1941, shortly before the start of World War II. While Clinton was away serving in the Army Air Corps in North Africa, DJ became very active in many projects supporting the war effort. DJ and Clinton settled in Pampa after the war. They were active in the First Methodist Church, and DJ was active in volunteer and social organizations where she developed a wide range of life-long friends. After Clinton retired, they moved to Scottsdale, Arizona where DJ again became active in volunteer and social organizations, such as the McCormick Ranch Women's Club. Later, DJ and Clinton moved to Bozeman, Montana to be closer to their daughter and son-in-law. DJ always loved being with friends, traveling, playing golf, playing bridge, and cooking.Donna Jo was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, an infant son Robert, and her sister Evonne Palmer. She is survived by her son Dean Evans and wife Patti of San Antonio, Texas as well as daughter Berkley Hudson and husband Jon of Bozeman, Montana. DJ also leaves behind grandson Scott Evans and wife Kelly of Houston, Texas as well as granddaughter Stephanie Hester and husband Greg of Houston, Texas. In addition, she leaves behind seven great-grandchildren: Abby, Davis, Grace, and Matthew Evans as well as Kate, Callie, and Maggie Hester.Graveside services will be conducted in Pampa at a later date.In lieu of flowers or other remembrances, the family recommends a contribution to the Madison County Nursing Homes Foundation (a 501(c)3 non-profit organization) at PO Box 997, Ennis, MT 59729 in recognition of the wonderful care DJ and Clinton received at Madison Valley Manor.
