Services will be at 3:00 PM Thursday, Sept. 27, 2012, in Carmichael-Whatley Colonial Chapel with Glen Walton, minister of Bell Avenue Church of Christ in Amarillo, Keith Feerer, minister of Mary Ellen and Harvester Church of Christ, and Paul Nachtigall, pastor of Highland Baptist Church, officiating.Burial will follow in Fairview Cemetery, under the direction of Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors.Mrs. Searl was born October 16, 1928 in Carson County to Creekmore and Mona Zelle Wright Broaddus. She married Clifford H. Searl on October 9, 1944 in Pampa. He preceded her in death in November of 1998. She had been a resident of Pampa since 1944. She graduated from Frank Phillips College in 1968 with an LVN degree. Vardene started her nursing career at Highland General Hospital and also worked for Coronado Community Hospital, Dr. Forrest Sparger, and Dr. Joe Gates and other doctors in the Medical & Surgical Clinic. She worked at Shepard's Crook Home Health for 22 years and she also helped Dr. Nigel DaSilva open his practice in Pampa. She was a member of Mary Ellen & Harvester Church of Christ for 61 years. Survivors include a daughter: Sandra Johnson and husband Blake of Sanford; 2 sons: Danny Searl and wife Terry and Paul Searl and wife Linda, all of Pampa; her sister: Shirley Bailey and husband Royce of Miami; her aunt: Donna Clyde Arms of Amarillo; 9 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; 2 great great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a daughter: Joy Beth Gough in November of 1987; a brother and sister-in-law: Courtney M. and Penny Broaddus; and her parents.Memorials may be made to the Harvest House, 736 S. Cuyler, Pampa, Texas 79065, or Pampa Nursing Center Activity Fund, 1321 W. Kentucky, Pampa, Texas 79065. The family will receive friends from 6:00-8:00 PM Wednesday at the funeral home.
