SERVICES: Memorial graveside services will be at 10:00 AM Thursday, August 16, 2012, at Fairview Cemetery, with Rev. Norman Rushing, pastor of Central Baptist Church, officiating. Cremation and arrangements are under the direction of Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors.BIOGRAPHY: Mr. Hughes was born October 18, 1937 in Erick, Oklahoma to Robert Lee and Jane Lee Myers Hughes. The Hughes family resided near Sweetwater, Oklahoma on the family homestead and relocated to Pampa in 1945. Eddie attended Pampa schools, graduating from Pampa High School in 1957. He then married and worked for various oilfield related businesses over the years. Eddie was a direct descendant of the Sons of the Republic of Texas. He was preceded in death by his parents: Robert and Jane Hughes; a sister: Bertha Lee Thomas; and two brothers: Willie B. Hughes and Howard Hughes.SURVIVORS: a daughter: Connie Williams and husband Randall of Pampa; two sons: Darryl Hughes and wife Kay of Pampa, and Brent Hughes and wife Linda of Midland County; a brother: Wayne Hughes and wife Diana of Iowa Park; four grandchildren: Jared Floyd and wife Amber of Pampa, Brian J. Scott Hughes of Houston, Ryan Hughes and wife Amanda of Midland, and Andrea Hughes of Amarillo; and one great-grandchild: Madison Floyd of Pampa. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Pampa Meals on Wheels, P.O. Box 939, Pampa, Texas 79066-0939.
