SERVICES: Memorial services will be at 2:00 PM Thursday, August 16, 2012, at First Baptist Church Chapel, with Professor Randy Ray, officiating. Cremation and arrangements are under the direction of Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors. Inurnment will follow at Fairview Cemetery in Shawnee, Oklahoma. BIOGRAPHY: Mrs. Turner was born July 18, 1930 in Wynnewood, Oklahoma to James "Jim" Bud Rogers, Jr., and Mary Addie Lee Hixson Rogers. Rosa Lena married Bill, her high school sweetheart, on the evening of December 21, 1947 in Shawnee, Oklahoma. She was a Baptist all her life and a Christian to the end, loved by all who knew her. She was a member of First Baptist Church in Pampa for many years, until Bill was offered the position of Music Minister at Highland Baptist Church in Pampa, where they stayed until his death on May 2, 1992. She continued to worship at Highland Baptist until she was no longer able to attend. Found in her safety deposit box was the first biscuit she ever made for her newlywed husband. Other things found therein she held most precious were the bar of soap from their honeymoon and the baby bracelets her two boys left the hospital wearing.She is survived by her eldest son: J. D. Turner and wife AnonA Gail, and their son Joe Deric Turner; her second son: Tim J. Turner; one sister: Ona Dean Atkinson and her husband Raymond; five additional grandchildren, three great-grandchildren; Bobby Brewer of the home, and many wonderful nieces and nephews and friends who have been like family. The third of four sisters, she was preceded in death by her parents, and two sisters, Geneva Lankford and Anita Campbell, all of Shawnee, Oklahoma.In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Disabled American Veterans at www.dav.org
