SERVICES: 2:00 PM Tuesday, July 17, 2012, at the Groom Church of Christ, with Sam Line, minister, officiating.BURIAL: Hillcrest Cemetery in McLean, under the direction of Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors of Pampa.BIOGRAPHY: Mr. West was born January 26, 1935 in Erick, Oklahoma, a twin to Roland West of Pampa. They were the first set of twins born to Charley and Ina West, and the youngest boys of 12 children. The family moved to McLean where he grew up and met his wife, Carolyn Pool. They were married in 1955 in Pampa. They moved to Groom in 1958, where he resided up until the time of his death. Robert spent most of his life working at the Wheeler Evans Grain Elevator in Groom. He was known for his great talent of music. He sang and played the guitar every chance he got. As a child of 14, he was singing on the radio, KEVA in Sweetwater, with his twin brother Roland, and his twin sisters, Mattie and Mary. His greatest passion was his love for his family and friends. He never knew a stranger.He was preceded in death by his wife: Carolyn on November 25, 2010; a son: Tommy West; his parents: Charley and Ina West; a beloved sister: Mattie Adamson, along with several other beloved brothers and sisters.SURVIVORS: 2 daughters: Barbara Schulte and husband Olen of Nazareth, and Victoria Strader of Azle; 3 sons: Allen West and wife Jan of Amarillo, Russell West of Lubbock, and Eric West of Shreveport, Louisiana; 4 brothers: Jack, Walt, Bill and Roland; and 1 sister: Mary; 14 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren.The family suggest memorials be made to a favorite cancer charity, or to BSA Hospice, P.O.
