Fines Marchman, pastor, officiating.BURIAL: Memory Gardens Cemetery in Pampa, under the direction of Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors of Pampa.BIOGRAPHY: Mrs. Houghton was born November 23, 1918 in Horatio, Sevier County, Arkansas, to Harvey and Beulah Flippo. At the age of eight, Paulene and the family began the migration from eastern Oklahoma to California in search of a better life. Along the way they stopped in the Texas Panhandle where her father found employment in the booming oilfields of West Texas. The family settled in Skellytown where Paulene resided for most of the next 85 years of her life. She was much loved and will be greatly missed.Paulene married William J. Houghton on December 2, 1949 in Skellytown. They both became devout members of the First Baptist Church in Skellytown where she loved to fellowship with her church family and served the Lord in different capacities through her years of membership. She and Bill also spent many years going to their lake cabins where they enjoyed fishing and entertaining family and friends. They became a part of the community wherever they were and thrived on being social. They loved people and never let a stranger stay that way for very long. SURVIVORS: her son: Greg Houghton of Skellytown; her sister: Doris Jean Jackson of Canyon; six grandsons, two granddaughters and three great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband of 50 years Bill; her son Jeff; her daughter Janice Gilbert; two sisters and four brothers.In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to First Baptist Church, P.O.
