SERVICES: Memorial services will be at 10:00 AM Wednesday, May 30, 2012, at First Christian Church in Ashland, Kansas, with Rev. Jim Sutherland, pastor, officiating. Cremation and arrangements are by Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors.BIOGRAPHY: Mr. Nice was born Dec. 22, 1923 in Morris, Oklahoma. He moved to the Pampa area at the age of 10, and he attended Pampa High School. After high school, he served in the U. S. Army during World War II where he fought in the Battle of the Bulge with the 291st Combat Engineers. He was discharged in 1945 and returned to Pampa where he worked in the oil and gas industry both in Pampa and abroad, travelling to Canada and Iraq to oversee development of new petroleum plants. Raymond married Lucy Swanner on March 11, 1999 in Huntsville, Arkansas. He was a member of First Christian Church in Ashland, Kansas. He was a lifetime member of Pampa VFW Post #1657, a lifetime member of the Battle of the Bulge Association, and the 291st Combat Engineers. In his spare time, he liked to work with wood and crafts. Raymond will be remembered as a loving husband and a good friend.SURVIVORS: Wife: Lucy Nice of the home; 4 daughters: Shelia Moon and husband Bill of Pearland, Sandra Cherry and husband Larry of Deer Park, and Sherril Crook and husband Tom of League City, and Jackie Morris of Las Vegas, NV; 2 sons: Larry Ray Nice of Houston and Ronald Meisner of Beaumont; 2 sisters: Juanita Butler of Phoenix, AZ and Hazel Arnold and husband Eldon of Lincoln, NE; 11 grandchildren 7 great grandchildren, and several nieces.
