BURIAL: Fairview Cemetery under the direction of Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors.BIOGRAPHY: Mr. Puryear was born February 26, 1923 in Wetumka, Oklahoma and was a 1942 graduate of Wetumka High School. He served in the U. S. Army during World War II in the European Theatre and the Phillippines. After the war, he attended college at Okmulgee, Oklahoma. Pard married Irma Scruggs on July 29, 1945 in Tulsa, Oklahoma, and they came to Pampa in 1948 from Wetumka, Oklahoma. He was a safety inspector for Celanese Chemical Company for 30 years, retiring in 1982. He was a member of First United Methodist Church.SURVIVORS: wife: Irma Puryear of the home; daughter: Debbie Brown and husband Bob of Wichita Falls; 2 sons: John Puryear and wife Sandy of Graham, and Bobby Puryear of Eagle River, Alaska; 6 grandchildren, 6 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents: John & Florence Puryear; a sister: Mary Puryear; a grandson: Rob Puryear; and a daughter-in-law: Jennifer Puryear.
