Warren Louis Hasse

SERVICES: Private graveside services will be held at Fairview Cemetery, under the direction of Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors.BIOGRAPHY: Mr. Hasse was born October 15, 1923 in Mauston, Wisconsin, and graduated from Mauston High School. He married Romelle (Peg) Johnson on January 31, 1944. They were married for 61 years until her death in 2005. He was a veteran of the U. S. Army Air Corps, serving as a 1st Lieutenant in the Eighth Air Force in Europe with the 390th bomb group, flying 35 missions as a bombardier and navigator. Following his honorable discharge from the service, he and Peg moved to Pampa in 1948 where he became sports editor at The Pampa News.In 1952, Warren and Coy Palmer bought Pampa's KPDN radio station, and became sole owner in 1960 and retiring in 1981. Beginning in 1952, he became a radio sports announcer for 35 years. He was known as the voice of the Pampa Harvesters and the West Texas State Buffaloes and was the announcer for the UIL Diamond Shamrock Schoolboy Network.In 1981, he became the 58th member of the Panhandle Sports Hall of Fame, where he was also a committee member for numerous years, and he won the Dick Risenhoover Award. Additional accomplishments included 41 years of perfect attendance in Kiwanis Club, including serving as Lt. Governor and President, induction into WT's Hall of Champions and WT Alumni Association Hall of Honor, Cal Farley's Boys Ranch lifetime partner, member of the Pampa ISD School Board for 6 years, including serving as president, and member and president of Pampa Chamber of Commerce. Warren was also a member of First Presbyterian Church.He was a loving husband, daddy, father-in-law and grandpa with a host of friends. For the past six years, he had faithfully fed the birds and squirrels daily at the cemetery in honor of Peg's love of animals.SURVIVORS: his son: John Hasse of Canyon; his daughter: Mary Schwab and husband Robert of Pampa, 2 granddaughters: Linda Schwab of Pampa and Sarah Schwab of Houston. He was preceded in death by an infant daughter: Jeri Ann Hasse; his parents: Louis and Bertha Hasse; and a sister: Florence Bakken.MEMORIALS: PAWS, P.O.
