SERVICES: Graveside services will be at 2:00 PM Thursday, February 9, 2012, at Memory Gardens Cemetery in Pampa, with Rev. Alan Burkhalter, pastor of Chaparral Hills Baptist Church of Amarillo, officiating. Military honors are courtesy of U. S. Navy, and arrangements are under the direction of Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors of Pampa.BIOGRAPHY: Mr. McDonald was born April 8, 1925 in Electra to P. L. and Dora McDonald. He graduated from Electra High School and joined the U. S. Navy in 1943, serving as a corpsman in the Central and Asia Pacific on the USS J. Franklin Bell. He was honorably discharged in 1946. After returning to the Pampa-Lefors area, Richard went to work for Texaco Oil Company. He retired in 1988 as a production supervisor after 43 years of service. Richard married Vera McDowell on September 30, 1945. They had 2 children, Marcia and James. Vera preceded him in death on September 3, 1982. He later married Helen Lofton on March 24, 1986, and she preceded him in death on February 11, 2006. SURVIVORS: a daughter: Marcia Stubbs of Baton Rouge, Louisiana; a son: James McDonald and wife Carol of Midland; and a stepson: D. D. Lofton and wife Kerry of Pampa; 4 grandchildren: Stephanie Batts and husband Ron of Baton Rouge, Louisiana, Chris McDonald and wife Betsy of Horse Creek, Wyoming, Richard Neil McDonald and wife Buffie of Amarillo, and Erin Matthews and husband Eric of Midland; 6 great-grandchildren.
