SERVICES: 2:00 PM Saturday, February 4, 2012, at First Presbyterian Church, with Rev. Kenny Rigoulot, pastor, officiating. Private burial will be in Fairview Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors.BIOGRAPHY: Mr. Salmon was born June 2, 1928 in Childress County to Harmon and Jewell Salmon. He married Margie Dixon on March 31, 1956 in Pampa. He received his Bachelor's and Master's degrees from Southern Methodist University, where he played basketball and baseball. Mr. Salmon was head basketball coach with Dallas ISD from 1950-1965 and assistant principal from 1965-1967. He worked as the textbook representative from 1967-1980, and was superintendent at Briscoe ISD from 1980-1990. He served on the board of directors for Northeast Texas Panhandle Special Ed Co-Op, B & L Oil Company, Tri-State Senior Golf Association and the Pampa Country Club where he also served as president. He was most proud of being a member of First Presbyterian Church where he served on the board of trustees and was an elder.SURVIVORS: wife: Margie Salmon of the home; 2 daughters: Laurie Daugherty and husband Marvin, and Linda Salmon, all of Pampa; a brother: Darrell Salmon of Ferris; a granddaughter: Amanda Daugherty of Knox City; and a grandson: Matthew Daugherty of College Station.
