SERVICES: 10:00 AM Friday, January 6, 2012, at First Assembly of God with Rev. Leland Lewis, pastor, and Rev. Errol Hainer, pastor of Life Fellowship Church of Amarillo, officiating.BURIAL: Memory Gardens Cemetery with military honors courtesy of U. S. Army, Fort Hood, Texas. Arrangements are under the direction of Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors.BIOGRAPHY: Mr. Adams was born April 6, 1919 in Graford, and had been a resident of Pampa since 1944. He married Mabel I. Switzer on December 12, 1945. She preceded him in death on July 15, 2011. He was a veteran of the U. S. Army with the 36th division, 141st infantry, serving in Africa, Italy, France and Germany during World War II. He was the recipient of two Purple Hearts and five Bronze Stars. He was a member of the VFW Post #1657 and was inducted into the Veteran's Hall of Fame, and was a member of the Disabled American Veterans. He worked for Cabot Carbon Black, retiring in 1984 after 38 years of service. He was a member of the First Assembly of God.The family would like to express their thanks to the wonderful staff at the Meredith House and to the VA Nursing Home.SURVIVORS: a daughter: Patsy Bright and husband Bobby of Pampa; 3 sons: Bobby F. Adams and wife Linda of Pampa, Larry D. Adams and wife Cathy of Amarillo, and Kenneth D. Adams and wife Linda of Okmulgee, Oklahoma; 8 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by 3 brothers, a sister, and 2 grandchildren, Ricky Adams and Regina Bright.
