SERVICES: 10:00 AM Monday, January 2, 2012, at Carmichael-Whatley Colonial Chapel, with Mr. Brian Taylor, associate pastor of Cornerstone Baptist Church, officiating.BURIAL: Fairview Cemetery under the direction of Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors.BIOGRAPHY: Mr. Shearer was born October 24, 1933 in Bentonia, MS to Ogden and Gladys Foster Shearer. He was a veteran of the U. S. Air Force, serving from 1951 until 1955, where he was stationed in Japan during the Korean Conflict. He married Barbara Podell in July of 1955, having 56 blissful years together. He came to Pampa in November of 1964 to open Anthonys Department Store in the Coronado Center, and retired after 31 years of service. He then worked as the property manager for Citizens Bank until 2001. Ken attended Cornerstone Baptist Church for several years. He was an avid woodcraftsman and a loving husband and father.SURVIVORS: his wife: Barbara Shearer of the home; a daughter: Debbie Shearer of Denver, Colorado; 3 brothers: Buford Shearer and wife Loraine and Billy Shearer and wife Glenda, all of Jackson, MS, and Lawrence Shearer and wife Suzan of Fort Worth; 2 sisters: Frances Walters of Clinton, MS, and Vonnie V. Shearer of Jackson, MS; 2 special granddogs, and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother and one sister.MEMORIALS: In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Heart Association, 2514 82nd Street, Suite B, Lubbock, Texas 79423.
