SERVICES: 11:00 AM Tuesday, Dec. 13, 2011, in Carmichael-Whatley Colonial Chapel with John Curry officiating.BURIAL: Fairview Cemetery under the direction of Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors.BIOGRAPHY: Mr. Thompson was born Feb. 28, 1946 in Pampa to Fred and Clotille McCallister Thompson. Jim was a 1964 graduate of Pampa High School and attended San Antonio College and Texas Tech University. He served in the U. S. Army during the Vietnam War and was on active duty from 1967-1969, attaining the rank of sergeant. Jim served as an instructor at the Signal Corps School in Fort Gordon, Georgia. He worked for First National Bank while in high school and on two separate occasions during his banking career and also worked for the Bank of North Texas in Hurst. Jim was a member of First Baptist Church and was a member of the Downtown Kiwanis Club for several years. He was a volunteer driver for Meals on Wheels for several years.SURVIVORS: a sister: JoAnn Jones of Pampa; a nephew: Jeff Jones and wife Consuelo of Pampa; a niece: Christie Demetriades and husband Keith of Pampa; 3 great nieces: Jordan Demetriades and Peyton Demetriades, both of Pampa, and Lauren Jones of Lubbock; and by a great nephew, Alex Jones, of Lubbock.
