Luther E. Hankins

SERVICES: Graveside services will be at 10:00 AM Saturday, November 19, 2011, at Fairview Cemetery, with Pastor Paul Nachtigall, Interim Hospice chaplain, officiating. Military honors are courtesy of the U. S. Navy, and arrangements are under the direction of Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors.BIOGRAPHY: Mr. Hankins was born October 30, 1933 in Ripley, Oklahoma, where he graduated from high school. He joined the U. S. Navy in 1950, and served during the Korean Conflict. He married Patsy Ruth Murrell on December 18, 1954 in Los Angeles, California. She preceded him in death on July 13, 2004. Luther worked for Cities Service and Occidental Petroleum companies for 37 years. He was a very loving husband, father and grandfather. SURVIVORS: a son: Jeff Hankins of Fort Worth; grandson: Jeremy Hankins of Fort Worth; granddaughter: Larissa Damron of Odessa; sister: Anita Palmer of West Plains, MO; 2 nieces: Joan Hanks and husband Alan of Dana Point, CA and Gayla Ludlum and husband Chris of Lakeside, CA; sister-in-law: Phyllis Ramsey and husband Jim of Cushing, OK; brother-in-law: Bobby Murrell and wife Carolyn of Joplin, MO; and numerous other loving family members. Luther was preceded in death by his parents, a son Bruce, 2 sisters and 1 brother.
