Army, Fort Hood, Texas. Arrangements are under the direction of Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors of Pampa.BIOGRAPHY: Mr. Smith was born September 23, 1932 in Gray County. He graduated from high school in Shamrock. He was a veteran of the U. S. Army, serving during the Korean Conflict. Raymond married Christine Been on February 16, 1957 in Pampa. He worked for Shell Oil Company in Skellytown for 18 years, and came back to Pampa to work for Celanese, retiring after 22 years of service. He was the Boy Scout leader for Troop 9 in Skellytown. Raymond was a member of Mary Ellen & Harvester Church of Christ in Pampa. He was a very loving husband, father, papaw and great-papaw.SURVIVORS: wife: Christine Smith of the home; 2 sons: Alvin Ray Smith and wife Mary of Fort Worth, and Darryl Wayne Smith and wife Cayla of White Deer; 2 daughters: Rita Gay Mauldin and husband Boyd, and Linda Jo Smith and husband Dusty Oakley, all of Amarillo; son-in-law: Chip Hughes of Lubbock; 16 grandchildren, 2 great-grandchildren; 4 sisters: Judy Robertson and husband Bob and Sylvia Johnston, all of Amarillo, Leta Wischkaemper of Shamrock, and Margie Prestidge of Canyon; 2 brothers: Douglas Smith of Pampa and Carroll Smith of Kerrville.
