LaNelle Brown Payne

SERVICES: Graveside services will be at 2:00 PM Monday, September 19, 2011, at White Deer Cemetery, with Rev. Dr. Jerry R. Lane, pastor of United Methodist Church of White Deer, officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors.BIOGRAPHY: Mrs. Payne was born November 30, 1922 in Timpson. She grew up in the Houston area and graduated from Southern Methodist University. She married Lloyd Paul Payne on April 15, 1952 in Pampa. He preceded her in death on December 16, 2009. LaNelle worked for Pampa Independent School District for 20-plus years, working as a teacher and secretary for the superintendent. She also taught secretarial classes at Clarendon College. She was a member of St. Matthews Episcopal Church. In her spare time, she enjoyed sewing and reading. She will be remembered as a loving wife, mother and grandmother.SURVIVORS: daughter: Alison Cagle of Pampa; son: Sidney Paul Payne and wife Beth of Leander; son-in-law: Jack Cagle of Pampa; 5 grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. LaNelle was preceded in death by her parents: Sam and Alice Brown; a brother: Maxie Brown; and sister-in-law: Patsy Brown.MEMORIALS: to a favorite charity.
