Thacker Haynes, pastor of United Methodist Church of McLean, officiating.BURIAL: Fairview Cemetery in Pampa by Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors of PampaBIOGRAPHY: Mr. Sloan was born June 18, 1923 in Gray County to Fred R. and Stella Herndon Sloan. He was a lifelong Gray County resident until moving to Panhandle in 2009, and he was a graduate of Pampa High School. He married Leatrice Hull on January 14, 1945 in Pampa. She preceded him in death on November 19, 1999. He later married Lillian McKiernan in February of 2001. She preceded him in death on April 2, 2011. Herndon was a longtime Gray County farmer, rancher, and cattleman. He was a member of First United Methodist Church in Pampa and was a member of the Texas and Southwestern Cattle Raisers Association.SURVIVORS: Brother: Jack Sloan of Pampa; 2 sisters: Carol Harper and Margie Walters, both of Amarillo; 2 stepdaughters: Betty Jo Smith of Amarillo and Patty Dauer of Panhandle; 2 stepsons: Kent McKiernan of Boise, Idaho and Mark McKiernan of Manhattan, Montana; and by several nieces and nephews.
