Elza Lee Hargus

SERVICES: Graveside services will be at 2:00 PM Thursday, August 25, 2011, at Fairview Cemetery, with Rev. Norman Rushing, pastor of Central Baptist Church, officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors.BIOGRAPHY: Mr. Hargus was born April 24, 1925 in Seymour, Missouri, and graduated from Seymour High School in 1943. He served in the U. S. Navy for 3 years. He married Vera Mae Overton on December 20, 1947 in Amarillo. Elza worked in, and owned, several barber shops in Pampa from 1948 until 1990. He had been a member of Central Baptist Church since 1953. He was a loving husband and father. He was the best.SURVIVORS: wife: Vera Mae Hargus of the home; 2 sons: Larry Hargus and wife Shirley of Bartlett, Illinois, and Michael Hargus and wife Deborah of Amarillo; 3 sisters: Aileen Cook of Seymour, Missouri, Helen Haynes of Springfield, Missouri, and Freda Fisher of Clearfield, Utah; 4 nephews and 1 niece. He was preceded in death by his parents: Jesse and Lottie Hargus; and a sister: Leota Crocker.MEMORIALS: to a favorite charity.
