He had been a resident of Pampa since 1950, graduating from Pampa High School that same year. He retired from Phillips Pipeline Company as a district gauger in 1995 and served on the Phil-Pet Credit Union board for 17 years. He married Helene Madeira on January 2, 1997. Carl was a longtime member of both First Baptist Church and the Everyman's Bible Class, and First Christian Church and the Bethany Bible Class. He was a member of the National Rifle Association and the Pampa Senior Citizens. SURVIVORS: his wife: Helene M. Baumgardner of the home; a daughter: Joan Scott of Mineral Wells; 3 sons: Robert Madeira, Bill Madeira and Terry Madeira, all of the Houston area; 2 brothers: Elvy Baumgardner and wife Loretta of Lake Worth, and Eugene Baumgardner and wife Shirley of West Plains, Missouri; 2 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren.
