SERVICES: 10:00 AM Tuesday, July 5, 2011, at Carmichael-Whatley Colonial Chapel in Pampa, Texas, with Rev. Barry Owens, associate pastor of First Baptist Church of Pampa, officiating.BURIAL: Memory Gardens Cemetery in Pampa, under the directions of Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors of Pampa. BIOGRAPHY: Mrs. Lewis was born February 7, 1924 in Marlow, Oklahoma, and she graduated from high school in Bray, Oklahoma. She married Wesley Lewis in Dumas, Texas. Together they ran their business, Lewis Aircraft in Pampa for many years. She was a member and former president of both Altrusa International and the Business and Professional Women's Club, both in Pampa. Jewell later became the state president of the Business and Professional Women's Club. She loved her grandchildren very much. Jewell was a very loving mother and grandmother, and she was very proud of Pampa.SURVIVORS: her daughter: Marjorie Easley and husband Tom of Houston; her son: Roy Caroll Word of Houston; a granddaughter: Mindy Karol Oates of Arlington; three sisters: Dorothy Thornton of Loma Linda, California, Dee Miller and husband Eska of McKinney, and Bobbie Sanders and husband Jim of Marlow, Oklahoma; a brother: J. W. Steppick and wife Jeraldine of Aukomif, Oklahoma; and numerous nieces and nephews.
