SERVICES: Graveside services will be at 10:00 AM Friday, May 13, 2011, at Fairview Cemetery in Pampa, Texas with John Curry, officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors of Pampa.BIOGRAPHY: Mrs. Chase was born January 6, 1921 in Moore, Oklahoma. She moved to Pampa, Texas with her family and graduated from Pampa High School in 1939. She was a 1943 graduate of Texas Tech University in Lubbock, Texas where she was a member of the Delta Delta Delta Sorority. During World War II, she taught home economics at Mobeetie High School. After the war, she married Dr. James Lee "Jim" Chase, Jr., and returned to live in Pampa to raise her family. He preceded her in death on January 17, 1996. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church and active in various other community activities. She was preceded in death by her parents: Edith and Charles Burton.SURVIVORS: two daughters: Carol Pessara of Northport, Maine, and Linda Lee of Oswego, Kansas; a sister: Margaret Carlisle of Montgomery; her grandson: Edwin James Pessara of Oak Harbor, Washington; great-grandson: John Spencer Pessara of Northport, Maine, and her niece: Cissy Wortham of Montgomery.In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials to the Alzheimer's Association, 415 W. 8th Ave., Suite 300, Amarillo, Texas 79101.
