SERVICES: 2:00 PM Saturday, May 7, 2011, at First Baptist Church in Lefors, Texas, with Rev. Lewis Ellis, retired Baptist minister, officiating.BURIAL: Memorial Heights Cemetery in Lefors, under the direction of Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors of Pampa.BIOGRAPHY: Mrs. Minter was born December 17, 1916 in Wellington. She married Walter Buford "Shorty" Minter on October 7, 1934 in Hollis, Oklahoma. He preceded her in death on March 14, 2000. She had been a resident of Lefors for 55 years. She moved to be closer to her children and lived in an independent living center in North Richland Hills for 10 years. Vera spent her last year in the Renaissance Care Center in Gainesville.Vera did not like limelight. She preferred being behind the scenes, making sure everything went smoothly as planned. She had a sweet spirit and was a good, faithful servant. Vera was a strong prayer warrior.She enjoyed gardening, walking, baking and was particularly fond of working with adolescents. Vera was a member of the First Baptist Church of Lefors, and was the Junior Department Director for 47 years. Together, Vera and Shorty had a combined service to the Lord of just over 100 years.SURVIVORS: son: Kenneth D. Minter and wife Julie; granddaughter: Shana Bohnsack and husband Brent; grandson: Clint Minter; great-granddaughter: Ashlynn Bohnsack; sister-in-law: Audie Mae Scott; and numerous nieces and nephews.In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to First Baptist Church Children and Youth Department, 315 E. 4th Street, Lefors, Texas 79054.
