SERVICES: Graveside services will be at 4:00 PM Monday, January 31, 2011, at Memory Gardens Cemetery, with Rev. C. W. Parker, Odyssey Hospice chaplain, officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors.BIOGRAPHY: Mr. Upton was born February 26, 1926 in Olustee, Oklahoma. He graduated from high school in Ron, Oklahoma. He farmed in Oklahoma for several years and worked with the Amarillo Fire Department from 1955 until 1983. Marland married Johnnie Treadway in 1946. She preceded him in death in 1994. He later married Elizabeth Robinson Hays in 2000. Marland loved fishing, camping and dogs. He was a beloved husband, father and grandfather.SURVIVORS: wife: Elizabeth Robinson Upton of the home; 3 sons: Ricky Upton and wife Deborah and Kent Bradley Upton and wife Trudy, all of Amarillo, and Jody Upton and wife Toni of Canyon; 3 grandsons: Roderick Upton and wife Christina and Kent Upton and wife Mary, all of Amarillo, and Jarrod Upton of Canyon; 3 granddaughters: Deborah Melissa Tupin and husband Eric and Kara Gant and husband Justin, all of Amarillo, and Lindsey Upton of Canyon; 8 great-grandchildren.
