SERVICES: 10:00 AM Monday, November 29, 2010, at First Baptist Church, with Dr. Johnny Funderburg, pastor, officiating.BURIAL: Graveside services will be at 10:00 AM Tuesday, November 30, 2010, at Los Creek Cemetery in Jack County, near Jacksboro, under the direction of Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors. BIOGRAPHY: Mr. Fisher was born February 12, 1927 in Memphis, Texas to Andrew and Idella Fisher. He attended schools in Memphis and Lindale. He joined the U. S. Navy at the age of 17, serving during World War II. He later joined the U. S. Army Air Corps, and became a Master Sgt. with the Air Force and also an accomplished pilot, serving during the Korean Conflict.Ray married Twila Gunter on April 30, 1956. They moved from Dumas to Pampa in 1957. He worked with the Pampa Fire Department for 32 years, retiring in 1989 as assistant fire chief. He transported cars for Robert Knowles Automotive for several years, earning an accident free 2 million mile award, which he was proud of. Ray loved to build and race dragsters. In the 1940??TMs and 1950??TMs, he traveled the country and won many titles and trophies in racing. He also loved flying his plane. Ray was an avid fisherman and outdoorsman. He enjoyed playing golf and traveling.Ray was a 32nd degree Mason. He attended Everyman??TMs Bible Study. He was involved with the American Red Cross for many years. He truly enjoyed his life??TMs work in civil service.SURVIVORS: wife: Twila Fisher of the home; 2 daughters: Cheryl McFall and husband Gary, and Teresa Kirby and husband Steve, all of Pampa; a son: Ray Fisher, Jr., and wife Tammy of Columbus, Ohio; 9 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great-granddaughter; numerous special nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Ray was preceded in death by his parents; and a brother: Glen Fisher.
