SERVICES: 2:00 PM Wednesday, November 10, 2010, at Mary Ellen & Harvester Church of Christ, with Zeb Sailors, Church of Christ minister, officiating.BURIAL: Memory Gardens Cemetery under the direction of Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors.BIOGRAPHY: Mrs. Blakeney was born November 25, 1936 in Antlers, Oklahoma. As a young girl, her family moved to Stinnett. She attended schools in Stinnett, graduating from Stinnett High School. She married Bob Blakeney on September 4, 1955 in Stinnett. She had been a resident of Pampa since 1960. She attended Pampa College of Hairdressing, and later worked as an instructor, retiring after 24 years of service. She was a member of Mary Ellen & Harvester Church of Christ. Bob and Charlene were married 55 years this past September and everyone knows "Bobby Gene loves Charlene." Charlene showed her family how to balance love, hard work and family devotion. She was proud to be Mrs. Bobby Gene Blakeney, but answered to many names. Her nieces and nephews often called her "Aunt Chuck," her cousins called her "Twin," and her many cosmetology students simply called her "Blakeney." In addition to her three biological daughters, her years of cosmetology instruction in Pampa, Borger and Lubbock produced dozens of surrogate daughters who looked to Charlene as a mother. The family wishes to thank the compassionate care of Peggy Miller, the P. J. Miller House staff, and Interim Health Care.SURVIVORS: husband: Bob Blakeney of the home; 3 daughters: Kerry Latrece Barrett and husband Vernon Don of Alvord, Sherry Denece Blakeney of Pampa, and Sabrina Ruena Stratford of Broomfield, Colorado; 2 sisters: Sherlene Riddle of Jonesboro, Arkansas, and Janice Armbruster and husband C.D. of Norman, Oklahoma; sister-in-law: Vera Thomas of Buena Vista; 2 grandsons: Blakeney Ray Barrett of Alvord and Cole Ryan Hosselkus of Greeley, Colorado; 4 nieces and 5 nephews.
