SERVICES: 2:00 PM Saturday, October 30, 2010, at Hobart Baptist Church, with Rev. Mike Watson, pastor, and David McCoy, son-in-law, officiating.BURIAL: Fairview Cemetery under the direction of Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors.BIOGRAPHY: Mr. Shults was born May 26, 1925 in Vernon. He moved to Sundown, Texas at the age of 4 where he attended Sundown schools. He was a veteran of the U. S. Army, serving during World War II. He married Wilma Lee on December 21, 1946 in Wellington. He lived in Wellington where he attended auto body school. He then lived in Childress for a time, and moved to Pampa in 1951. Ray worked in the body shops of Tom Rose Motors, Harold Barrett Ford, Culberson-Stowers Chevrolet and Ford's Body Shop. He started Ray's Body Shop in 1969, retiring in 1994. He loved trap shooting, bowling, the Houston Astros, and especially team roping. He was a member of the Team Roping Association and the U. S. Team Roping Association. Ray was a loving husband and father, and especially loved spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.SURVIVORS: wife: Wilma Shults of the home; a daughter: Lee Ann Conner of Pampa; a son: Wendell Ray Shults and wife Charla of Pampa; 5 granddaughters: Amy Acosta of Mustang, Oklahoma, Caryn Parker, Robyn McLaughlin, Madi Shults and Jana Shults, all of Pampa; a grandson: Jerrod Drinnon of Lubbock; 3 great-grandchildren: Chase McLaughlin and Carter McLaughlin, both of Pampa, and Taylor Elaine Acosta of Mustang, Oklahoma; son-in-law: David McCoy of Childress; and a very special friend: Ralph Day of Pampa. Ray was preceded in death by a son: Willie Ray Shults, Jr., on January 7, 1960; and a daughter: Janice McCoy on August 18, 2008.
