SERVICES: 10:00 AM Saturday, October 30, 2010 at Memory Gardens Mausoleum, with Rev. Barry Owens, associate pastor of First Baptist Church, officiating.BURIAL: Memory Gardens Cemetery under the direction of Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors.BIOGRAPHY: Mrs. Puckett was born November 14, 1921 in Wolfe City, Texas. She grew up on the family farm in Canadian where she graduated from Canadian High School. She married Millard Puckett on May 25, 1940 in Clovis, New Mexico, and he preceded her in death. In her younger years, she lived in many cities and states as a minister's wife and missionary. She had been a resident of Pampa since the early 1980's. Mary Ida was a member of the First Baptist Church. In her spare time she loved to read and she canned foods from her garden. She loved to pray and praise the Lord. Although she was small in stature, she had the heart and will of a giant.SURVIVORS: 2 daughters: Sharon Thompson and husband Bill of Mesquite, and Naomi G. Hulme and her sweetheart Jack Brown of Plano; 3 grandsons: Don Thompson and wife Toni of Orange, Brian Butler of Plano, and Christopher Puckett of Amarillo; 2 granddaughters: Tammy Burdett and husband Steve of Amarillo, and Mary Rush and husband R. J. of Queen Creek, Arizona; 7 great-grandsons: Jared Thompson and wife Dana of Austin, Kyle Thompson of Orange, Brady Burdett and Brent Burdett, both of Amarillo, Zac Bartley, Hunter Rush and Ryder Rush, both of Queen Creek, Arizona; 2 great-granddaughters: Lindsey Garrett and husband Bryan of Orange, and Bri Burdett of Amarillo; and 1 great-great-grandson: Mason Thompson of Austin.
