SERVICES: 2:00 PM Saturday, September 25, 2010, at the United Methodist Church in Groom, with Rev. Weldon Rives of United Methodist Church of Groom, and Pastor Mike Nuthman of Hillside Christian Church of Amarillo, officiating. BURIAL: Fairview Cemetery in Pampa, under the direction of Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors of Pampa.BIOGRAPHY: Mr. Baggerman was born March 20, 1932 on the family farm south of Pampa, one of eleven children. He attended Grandview Elementary and graduated from Pampa High School. He served in the U. S. Army from 1956-1957 during the Korean Conflict. Vernon worked for Gray County, Precinct 3, for over 50 years, and served on the Groom School Board in the 1970's. As a custom harvester, he traveled from Childress to Wyoming, sharing stories and jokes with lifelong friends he made along the way. Vernon brought home many fond stories from Wheatland that we will cherish. The family thanks his friends in Childress for their friendship, love and support. Vernon will long be remembered as a loving husband and father, hard working custom harvester, farmer, sports fan, and outdoorsman.SURVIVORS: wife: Virginia Baggerman of the home; 2 sons: Earnest Baggerman and wife Diann of Miami and Roger Baggerman and wife Robin of Rowlett; 2 daughters: Peggy Baggerman of Groom, and Madina Joshi of McKinney; 1 stepson: Sam Prince of Albuquerque, New Mexico; 1 stepdaughter: Marla Darnell of Amarillo; 4 brothers: Ruben Baggerman and wife Lora of Groom, Nace Baggerman and wife Mary of Claude, Franklin Baggerman and wife Cletis of Lubbock, James Baggerman and wife Maria of Mount Pleasant; 3 sisters: Irene Baggerman of Amarillo, Roselle Collingsworth of Pampa, Margret Whatley and husband Curtis of Groom; 14 grandchildren: Vernon Paul Baggerman and wife Tiffany, Brandy Higginbotham and husband Bret, Kurt Baggerman and wife Jodie, Katie Baggerman, Jill Baggerman, Lauren Wessels and husband Mitch, Kyle Baggerman, Alex Joshi, Ashley Joshi, Sammie Darnell, Kellsie Prince, Orlan Braman, Amanda Braman, Ina Cook and husband Dustin; 8 great-grandchildren. Vernon was preceded in death by his parents: John A. and Odell Baggerman; a brother: Johnny Baggerman; and 2 sisters: Caroline "Sissy" Couts and Mildred Miller.
