SERVICES: Graveside services will be at 2:00 PM Saturday, August 28, 2010, at Fairview Cemetery in Pampa, Texas, with John Curry, officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors of Pampa.BIOGRAPHY: Mrs. Garren, a long-time resident of Pampa, was born October 7, 1923 in Ada, Oklahoma to Parley and Viola Parks Duke. She was the youngest of four children. She attended college at East Central State in Ada and met her husband, LeeRoy "Red" Garren while in school. They were married on April 5, 1942, and he preceded her in death in 1988. Betty was active in the United Methodist Church throughout her adult lifetime, as well as a Life Master in Contract Bridge. She enjoyed golf, skiing, and traveled extensively throughout the United States and Europe. She and Red were avid Pampa Harvester and Oklahoma Sooner football fans. SURVIVORS: 2 sons: William Duke Garren and wife Gloria of Newnan, Georgia, and John Roy Garren of Elk City, Oklahoma; 1 niece: Jo Nell Marshall of Houston; 6 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
