SERVICES: Graveside services will be at 10:00 AM Wednesday, April 14, 2010, at Fairview Cemetery, with Philip Elsheimer, Full Gospel minister, officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors.BIOGRAPHY: Mrs. Floyd was born December 23, 1920 in Blossom. She married Alfred Whitney in 1946 in Hobbs, New Mexico. He preceded her in death in 1948. She later married William Floyd, Jr., on August 17, 1957 in Pampa. He preceded her in death in 1987. She had been a resident of Pampa since 1957. Onita was a Baptist and a homemaker.SURVIVORS: 7 nieces: Phyllis Elsheimer and husband Philip, Sheelah Wilson and husband Russell, Pam Lorensen, Kim Johnson and husband Don, Angie Degner and husband Danny, Jean Dona and husband Ken, all of Pampa, and Ruby Stover of Paris; 8 nephews: Troy Garmon, David Garmon and wife Sherry, and Gaines Chennault, all of Pampa, Larry Garmon and wife Connie of Amarillo, Jerry Garmon of Fritch, Tim Garmon of Guymon, Oklahoma, Joe Chennault of Borger, and Terry Chennault of Tahlequah, Oklahoma; sister-in-law: Irene Black of Pampa. Onita was preceded in death by her parents; a daughter: Sandra Gail Melear in 1969; a son: William Darrell Floyd in 1996; 4 brothers: J. C., Desso Lee, Erbie and William Chennault; and 3 sisters: Frances Hood, Avis Fields and Nan Garmon.
