SERVICES: Graveside services will be at 10:30 AM Friday, April 2, 2010, at Fairview Cemetery, with Rev. Francisco Perez, pastor of St. Vincent dePaul Catholic Church, officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors.BIOGRAPHY: Mrs. New was born March 10, 1922 in Brookline, Massachusetts, to Thomas and Mary Burns. She graduated from St. Mary's High School in Brookline in 1939, and served in the U. S. Navy during World War II. She came to the Texas Panhandle in 1947 from San Francisco. Eleanor married Earl New, Jr., on March 9, 1947 in Pampa. He preceded her in death on September 16, 2007. She worked as a bookkeeper for Utility Oil Company and Houston Lumber Company for many years. Eleanor was a member of St. Vincent dePaul Catholic Church and was an avid supporter of the Lovett Memorial Library. As a youth, she had a great love for the Atlantic Ocean, staying at her parent's beach house in Massachusetts.SURVIVORS: 2 sons: Thomas New and wife Ramona of Eagle Creek, Oregon, and Tim New and wife Anne of Huntsville; 2 daughters: Carol Murray of Huntsville and Nancy Watson and husband Craig of Pampa; sister-in-law: Mary Nelson of Huntsville; 2 brothers-in-law: Joe New and wife Mary of Jackson, Tennessee, and Paul New and wife Grace of Denver City; 10 grandchildren: Daniel New and wife Beth and Stacy Stubblefield and husband Levi, all of Eagle Creek, Oregon, Jay New and wife Nicky of San Antonio, Jennifer New and Wendy Murray, both of Huntsville, Holly Bruce and fiancé Chad Myers of The Woodlands, Daniel Murray and Coby Murray, both of Nacogdoches, Nicole Watson of Sugarland, and David Watson of Amarillo; 8 great-grandchildren; 2 nieces: Mary Ann Jackson and Kathleen Burns, both of Springfield, Massachusetts, and 1 nephew: Tommy Burns of Springfield, Massachusetts.MEMORIALS: St. Vincent dePaul Catholic Church, 810 W. 23rd, Pampa, Texas 79065.
