SERVICES: Graveside services will be at 10:00 AM Thursday, March 4, 2010, at Fairview Cemetery, with Rev. Bob Hudson, pastor of Bible Baptist Church, officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors.BIOGRAPHY: Mr. Cox was born January 4, 1928 to Shirley Preston Cox and Mary Elizabeth Flossie Reid in Old Mobeetie. John joined the U. S. Army on January 16, 1952 and served until Honorably Discharged on December 19, 1953. John was a member of Bible Baptist Church in Pampa where they had many loving friends that added happiness and laughter to his life.John and Billie Cox were married on July 3, 1954 in Pampa where they continue to live and form many close friendships and raise their family. John worked for Howard Compressor Service for many years, where he made friends who became as close as family to him and Billie. The family would like to thank everybody at Howard Compressor Service for the continued friendship and love during his career and after his retirement.That family would also like to thank the staff of Ussery-Roan Texas State Veterans Home, BSA Hospital and Hospice for the care given to John in the final days of his life.John is survived by his wife Billie, 2 sons, Larry Cox and wife Marilee of Greenville, NC and Fred Cox and wife DeLisa of Amarillo, 7 grandchildren and many other family members.In lieu of flowers, the family wishes that charitable contributions be made in John's name to Bible Baptist Church, 500 E. Kingsmill in Pampa.
