Arrangements are by Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors.BIOGRAPHY: Mr. Hawkins was born Oct. 8, 1919 in LaBelle, Missouri and came to Pampa in 1928 with his family. He enlisted in the U. S. Army in 1941 in the 1st Mounted Cavalry Division which was the last horse soldier division of the Army. He served in the South Pacific in the Admiralty Islands, Solomon Islands, New Guinea and made the amphibious landing at Los Negros. Red was honorably discharged in 1945. He married Maxine Lane on Feb. 7, 1947 in Pampa and joined his father in the family business, Hawkins Radio Lab, where he was a partner until his retirement in 1989. Red was a member of First Christian Church, Top O' Texas Masonic Lodge #1381, El Paso Scottish Rite Consistory, Pampa Pilots Association, and the Civil Air Patrol. He was preceded in death by his parents, William F. and Zula Hawkins, and by two brothers, William F. "Bill" Hawkins, Jr. and Dale Hawkins.SURVIVORS: Wife of 62 years: Maxine Hawkins of the home; two sons: Michael Dee Hawkins of Amarillo and Tom C. Hawkins of Oklahoma City; 3 sisters: Joan Enloe of Anaheim, CA, Mardell Gamblin of Pampa, and Mary Ellen Claunch of Midwest City, OK; a granddaughter, Shelley Woodard, and a great grandson, Berke, both of Oklahoma City.
