SERVICES: Graveside services will be at 2:00 PM Wednesday, December 2, 2009, at Kaw Cemetery in Kaw City, Oklahoma, with Rev. Charles Richie, pastor of Webb City Church of God of Webb City, Oklahoma, officiating. Local arrangements are under the direction of Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors of Pampa, and Oklahoma arrangements are under the direction of Grace Memorial Chapel in Ponca City, Oklahoma.BIOGRAPHY: Mrs. Kerr-Smith was born July 17, 1928 in Hamilton, Kansas, attending Hamilton schools. She married Joe M. Kerr on October 18, 1946. He preceded her in death on October 1, 1982. She was employed by Scat Communication and Ideal Food Store in Liberal, Kansas. She helped start Boss Hog Well Service in Shidler, Oklahoma. She later married L. B. Smith on May 9, 1986 in Winfield, Kansas. He preceded her in death on March 4, 1997. Laura enjoyed spending time outdoors, watching the Atlanta Braves baseball and watching her grandchildren and great-grandchildren play sports. She lived in the Shidler and Webb City, Oklahoma area for 30 years. She moved to Lefors, Texas with her daughter in 2004, and then to Wheeler, Texas in 2007. SURVIVORS: 2 sons: Ronald J. Kerr and wife Sherry of Tyrone, Oklahoma, and Scott A. Kerr and wife Janice of Lamont, Oklahoma; daughter: Luella M. Slatten and husband Robert of Lefors, Texas; daughter-in-law: De Dee Kerr of Webb City, Oklahoma; 11 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren; 3 stepchildren: Dale Smith and wife Dianna of Winfield, Kansas, Shirley Schmidt and husband Norm of Newton, Kansas, and Sandy Claycamp and husband Kyle of Holton, Kansas; 8 step grandchildren, 9 step great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews. Laura was preceded in death by her parents; a brother: James Holland; 2 sons: Bill Kerr and Jim Kerr; a daughter-in-law: Mindy Kerr; 2 great-grandchildren: Cheyene Kerr and Ronnie Rojas; and 2 step sisters: Marvel and Mille.MEMORIALS: Wheeler Nursing Center, 1000 Kiowa, Wheeler, Texas 79096.
