She married Luther Barnett Nichols, Jr. on January 10, 1944 in Salt Lake City, Utah. He preceded her in death on December 9, 1979. She later married B.W. Lard on December 20, 1994 in Miami. He preceded her in death on January 13, 2005. She had been a resident of Pampa since 1960. Ruthie received her cosmetology and instructor licenses from Clarendon College. She taught cosmetology at Pampa High School for several years. She was the owner and operator of Ruthie's Beauty Salon in Pampa. She was a member of the Monday Night Dance Club and Moose Lodge. Ruthie loved music, playing the piano and being outdoors. She was devoted to her job, even after retiring in February of 2009. She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints.SURVIVORS: 2 sons: Luther "Nick" Nichols, III and wife Tina of Iowa Park, and Alfred Nichols and wife Fran K. of Springtown; 2 daughters: Donnie Jensen and husband Darrell of Mattawa, Washington, and Doris Dillon of Iowa Park; 2 stepsons: Archie Lard and wife Sue of New Mexico, and Billy Lard and wife Rose of Duncan, Oklahoma; 2 stepdaughters: Patricia Long of Banning, California, and Glenda Strey of Cleburne; 6 brothers: Alfred Marcum and wife May, Lavern Marcum and wife Ruth, Oren Marcum, Dale Marcum and wife Maureen, Selor Marcum and wife Elva, Shelby Marcum and wife Joyce; 1 sister: Ethel Pearcy and husband Perry; 12 grandchildren, 29 great-grandchildren, 1 great-great-grandchild. Ruthie was preceded in death by her parents; 2 brothers: James Marcum and Gilbert Marcum; 2 sisters: Myrtle Hall and Mary Ida Williams; 1 brother-in-law: Hyrum Hall; 1 sister-in-law: Nadine Marcum; 2 grandsons: Daren Ray Jensen and Dusty Rawlings Jensen.
