SERVICES: At the request of Mr. Field, his body was donated to Texas Tech School of Medicine in Lubbock. Memorial services will be at 2:30 Saturday, May 16, 2009, at Central Baptist Church, with Marty Field, grandson, officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors.BIOGRAPHY: Reece Field was born November 13, 1922 in Wheeler County to Rev. L.T. and Eva Bell Field. He enlisted in the Army Air Force in July of 1942 and volunteered as a Marine Deep-Sea Diver. This elite group of divers, under Navy command, was directly responsible for the recovery of sunken aerial warfare equipment and assisted in the development of aerial torpedo and bombing research. He returned home on furlough on February 24, 1944 to marry Delma Satterfield, his high school sweetheart. They moved to Pampa in 1946, where he retired from Texaco after 35 years of service. Over the years he was active in Boy Scouts, Pampa Art Foundation and was a hospital volunteer. Reece loved the great outdoors and was an avid archer, bow builder and bow hunter. He was a master carpenter, sculptor, motorcycle enthusiast and golfer. Reece, who was a good friend to all associates, will be remembered with love.SURVIVORS: wife: Delma Field of the home; 2 sons: Garry A. Field and wife Reta, and Lyndon M. Field and wife Joyce, all of Pampa; 3 grandchildren: Marty Field and wife Krissy of Pampa, Reece A. Field and wife Karen of Fayetteville, Tennessee, and Darin Field and wife Wendy of Weatherford; 7 great-grandchildren; 1 brother: Billy A. Field of Georgia; 1 sister: Maxine Newton of Amarillo. Reece was preceded in death by his parents; and 2 brothers: Rev. Glenn Field and Frank Field.
