SERVICES: 2:00 PM Tuesday, April 21, 2009, at First Baptist Church with Rev. Lewis Ellis, retired Baptist minister, and Dr. Johnny Funderburg, pastor of First Baptist Church, officiating.BURIAL: Memory Gardens Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors.BIOGRAPHY: Rita was born April 7, 1938 in Higgins. She went to be with Jesus and join her husband on April 19, 2009 in Amarillo. Rita has been a resident of Pampa since 1957. She married Wayne Steddum on August 16, 1957 in Pampa. He preceded her in death on March 18, 1984. Rita loved her family and was a devoted mother, grandmother, friend and babysitter. She was an accomplished bowler winning many national, state and local awards. She enjoyed fishing, playing games and was an excellent seamstress and quilter. She made quilts for everyone in her family and gave them for their Christmas present in 2008. Rita will be missed by all that loved her. She was preceded in death by her parents: Joe and Okla McQuigg, brother: Gene McQuigg and a granddaughter Renetta Jo Stover.SURVIVORS: 2 daughters: Brenda Lee and husband James of Pampa, Nita Stover and husband Robert of Skellytown. Her best friend of over 30 years, Nancy Looper of Pampa, 2 brothers: Sandy McQuigg of Henderson, Theron McQuigg of Trenton, New Jersey, 3 sisters: Jolene Neu and Daisy Bennett both of Quitman, Idelma Dunnihoo of Shattuck, Oklahoma. 8 grandchildren: Kimberly Stover, Kathy Stover, Jerrod Carruth, Gage Carruth, James Lee II. Jade Lee, J'Mico Mitchell, David Looper and many other children that called her "Grandma Rita".MEMORIALS: Pampa, Senior Citizens, P.O. Box 475, Pampa, Texas 79065.
