SERVICES: 2:00 PM Tuesday, April 14, 2009, in Carmichael-Whatley Colonial Chapel with Carl Hamilton and Matt Hill officiating.BURIAL: Fairview Cemetery under the direction of Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors.BIOGRAPHY: Mr. Guthrie was born on June 30, 1940 in Andrex, Colorado and graduated from Kim High School in Kim, Colorado. He was a veteran of the U. S. Army. Mearl married Frances Patterson on June 9, 1967 in Clayton, New Mexico, and they have lived in the Pampa area since 1978. He worked as an engineering technician for Energas for 27 years, retiring in 1995. After retiring from Energas, he worked for Bob Douthit Wrecker Service until his death. Mearl enjoyed working and tinkering with his car collection. He will be remembered as a loving husband, father, grandfather, and a kind and generous man who will be greatly missed by his family and friends.SURVIVORS: Wife: Frances Guthrie of the home; a son, James Guthrie and wife Kelli of Fairplay, CO; a sister, Bertha Bradford of Leadville, CO; a brother, Les Guthrie and wife Mary of Pritchett, CO; a granddaughter, Codi Guthrie of Fairplay, CO and a grandson, Khale Guthrie of Fairplay, CO; numerous nieces, nephews, and friends.
