SERVICES: Entombment services will be at 2:00 PM Saturday, February 14, 2009, at Memory Gardens Mausoleum, with Stan Lehnert, pastor of Bethel Church of God, officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors.BIOGRAPHY: Mr. Martin was born May 14, 1933 in Hallettsville, Texas, to William H. and Lois Jennings Martin. He married Gail Zafereo on December 1, 1954 in Victoria. He owned and operated Martin Painting in Liberal, Kansas for several years. He moved to Pampa in 1996 where he owned the Cigarette Store for 11 years. He was a former member of Bethel Church of God for 21 years. William liked horses and stock car racing, and his favorite drivers and friends were Dwight Leatherman and Rick Taylor. He will be remembered as a loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather.The family would like to thank the staff of Pampa Nursing Center for the love and care given to Mr. Martin. SURVIVORS: Wife: Gail Martin of the home; 2 sons: Jeffrey Martin and wife Mandi of Amarillo, and Michael Eversoll and wife Patti of Sherman; 2 daughters: Connie Chapin and husband Frank of Willoughby, Ohio and Kim Hickman and husband Grant of Amarillo; 9 grandchildren: Michael Steadman and wife Karen and Joshua Steadman and wife Amber, all of Pampa, Matthew Carr and wife Adrienne of Kansas City, Missouri, Cameron Martin, Alexander William Martin, Courtney Hickman, Jessica Hickman, and Kimberly Martin, all of Amarillo, and Michelle Blackmon of Denison; 2 great-grandsons: Michael Tanner Steadman and Kaleb Aaron Steadman; 1 great-granddaughter: Sydney Blackmon.
