SERVICES: Graveside services will be at 10:00 AM Monday, Feb. 9, 2009, at Memorial Heights Cemetery in Lefors with Rev. Chris Webb, pastor of First Baptist Church of Lefors, officiating. Arrangements are by Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors.BIOGRAPHY: Mr. Gifford was born on Dec. 11, 1926 in Faxon, Oklahoma and had been a resident of the Pampa area since the late 1940's. He served in the U. S. Navy during World War II in the Pacific Theatre. He married Vivian Prophet in 1967 in Pampa. He worked as an electrician for many years. He enjoyed spending time with his family particularly his grandchildren. Alvie will be greatly missed by his family.SURVIVORS: Wife: Vivian Viola Gifford of the home; 4 daughters: Linda Littlefield and husband Wade of Canyon; Debra Gee and husband Royce of Shawnee, OK; Sis Boaz of Pampa; and Nita Mize and husband Leslie of Lefors; 2 sons: Robert Gifford and wife Carla of Lefors and Wayne Gifford of Pampa; 2 sisters: Velda Chadwick and husband John of Fayetteville, AR; and Mary Lezak of Cedar Park; 2 brothers: Melvin Gifford and wife Lyn of Geronimo, OK and Eudell Gifford and wife MaryAnn of Lefors; 12 grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a son, Shorty Gifford in 1995, by 2 daughters,Leta Mae Gifford in 1950 and Karen Kay Mills in 1995, and by a sister, Mattie Garrison, in 1981.MEMORIALS: Vivian's Nursing Home, 508 N. Taylor, Amarillo, TX 79107.SPECIAL NOTICE: The family will receive friends from 5:00-6:30 PM Sunday at the funeral home.
