Lane, pastor of Wesley United Methodist Church of Borger, and Lynn Wilson, Church of Christ minister from Columbus, Texas, officiating.BURIAL: Memory Gardens Cemetery under the direction of Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors.BIOGRAPHY: Jean was born December 31, 1924 in Waurika, Oklahoma. She married Virgil Henry Smith on October 21, 1943 in Battle Creek, Michigan. He preceded her in death on August 25, 2007, after 64 years of marriage. She was a retired manufacturing worker and homemaker.SURVIVORS: 1 daughter: Sandi Smith and husband Dennis of Durand, Illinois; 1 son: Jerry Smith of Amarillo; 3 sisters: Peggy Winegert of Pampa, Fay Wilson of Grove, Oklahoma, and Melba Holland and husband Max of Houston; 1 brother: Melvin "Burly" Bigham and wife Fern of Lubbock; 2 daughters-in-law: Charlene Smith of Amarillo and Jan Oneal of Hobbs, New Mexico; 2 grandsons: Michael Smith and Jeremy "J. J." Smith; 2 granddaughters: Jami Len Mount and Michelle Hanna and husband Will; and 4 great-granddaughters. Jean was preceded in death by 4 brothers and 1 sister.MEMORIALS: Memorial Hospice, 224 E. 2nd, Dumas, Texas 79029.
