SERVICES: 11:00 AM Tuesday, Dec. 23, 2008, in Carmichael-Whatley Colonial Chapel with Rev. Lynn Hancock, pastor of Briarwood Full Gospel Church, officiating.BURIAL: Graveside services will be at 2:30 PM Tuesday at Shamrock Cemetery with honor guard provided by the U. S. Navy.BIOGRAPHY: Mr. Braxton was born May 28, 1926 in Lela, Texas and had lived in the Shamrock, Lela, and Pampa area all of his life. He attended elementary school at Lela and graduated from Shamrock High School. He attended Texas Tech, West Texas State University, and Frank Phillips College. He was a veteran of the U. S. Naval Reserve, serving in World War II from 1944-1946. He was a farmer and rancher in Wheeler County from 1946-1986 and retired from IRI after 27 years of service. Jim worked in real estate in the Pampa area with Malcom Denson, and he volunteered as cable commissioner, driver for the kidney dialysis van, and for the Pampa Optimist Club. He married Joan Rae Crawford on Feb. 22, 1958 in Fort Worth. He was a very devoted father, father-in-law, Granda, and great Granda. He loved and admired all of his friends and co-workers. Jim was preceded in death by his parents, Fred and Ola Braxton, 2 infant sons, and an infant grandson.SURVIVORS: Wife: Joan Braxton of the home; 1 daughter: Janna Bentley and husband Harold of Pampa; 1 son: Jim Braxton and wife Ann of The Woodlands; grandchildren: Heath Bentley and wife Angela, Jacob Braxton and wife Tammy, Jenifer Miller and husband Junior, Leina Braxton, Sterlin Rose-Braxton, Jeremy Braxton, Hudson Bentley, and Dakota Braxton; and 2 great granddaughters: Emijin Braxton and Kaydence Miller; 2 uncles, Paul Ray Hicks and Cecil C.
