Howard Thomas Archer

SERVICES: 10:00 AM Monday, December 22, 2008, at Carmichael-Whatley Colonial Chapel, with Rev. Steve Cox, pastor of the Lefors United Methodist Church, officiating.BURIAL: Memory Gardens Cemetery under the direction of Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors.BIOGRAPHY: Mr. Archer was born December 17, 1922 in Heber Springs, Arkansas. He married Virginia Harrison on October 19, 1941 in Pampa. She preceded him in death on September 14, 1994. Howard had been a resident of Lefors since 1946. He worked for Columbian Carbon, which changed names throughout the years, and finally retired, with Occidental Petroleum Company with 40 years of service. He was a member of the Lefors United Methodist Church and a former member of the McLean Masonic Lodge. He was a veteran of the U. S. Army, serving from January of 1943 until December of 1945. He was a PFC with Company D of the 534th Engineers Boat and Shore Regiment. Howard loved going to Platoro, Colorado every summer to go fishing. He was a great round and ball room dancer. SURVIVORS: 2 sons: Michael Howard Archer of Garland, and Richard Kimberly Archer of Amarillo; 5 grandchildren: Luke Archer and Jennifer Archer Whaley, both of Dallas, Arian Archer Schiermeyer of Arcadia, California, Matt Archer of Dumas, and Cody Archer of Houston; 4 great-grandchildren: Tripp Schiermeyer, Sadie Schiermeyer, Courtlyn Dawson and Emery Archer; 2 brothers: Richard Archer of Buchanan Dam, and Joe Archer of Spearman; special friend: Christine Bridges of Lefors. Howard was preceded in death by his parents: Robert Vaughn and Ida Luella Archer; a sister, Maxine; and 2 brothers, Robert and John.MEMORIALS: Lefors United Methodist Church, P.O.
