Arrangements are under the direction of Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors.BIOGRAPHY: Mr. King was born October 18, 1924 in Loraine, Texas. He worked on his father's farm in the Loraine area, and married Golda Hall on January 1, 1949 in Loraine. She preceded him in death on October 12, 1995. Alvin was a veteran of the U. S. Army, serving in the Asiatic Pacific Theatre, the Philippines and Okinawa. He was the recipient of the Combat Infantryman Badge and was a heavy machine gunner and sharpshooter. He had been a resident of Pampa since 1961. Alvin was a lifelong member of the First Church of the Nazarene. He worked for Cabot for nearly 30 years, retiring in 1989.SURVIVORS: 2 sons: Paul King of Amarillo and Calvin King of Abilene; 2 daughters: Debbie Donaldson and Donna Anderson, both of Pampa; 4 brothers: William King of Big Spring, E. F. King of Corpus Christi, Calvin King of Clovis, California, and Junior King of Houston; 2 sisters: Thelma Cleveland and Kathy Collins, both of Hurst; 17 grandchildren, 36 great-grandchildren. Alvin was preceded in death by his parents: Elzie H. King and Mable King, both in 1968; a son: Alvin King on September 27, 1981; a daughter: Barbara King on November 9, 2006; a great-grandson: Ethan Anderson on March 15, 1999; a granddaughter: Jovetta Kanady in January of 1997; 3 brothers: Ollie King, James King and Bruce King; and 2 sisters: Julia Clapton and Louise King.
