SERVICES: Graveside services will be Wednesday, September 10, 2008 at 2:00 PM at Celestial Garden Cemetery in Cyril, Oklahoma with Rev. Alan Wilson, pastor of First Baptist Church of White Deer, officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors.BIOGRAPHY: Mr. Brown was born December 31, 1929 in Eureka, Kansas. He married Betty Robinson on April 1, 1950 in Yuma, Arizona. He was a resident of Pampa since 1952 moving to Panhandle in 2005. He retired from Celanese as a Superintendent in 1985 after 33 years. After his retirement, Betty and J.D. loved traveling and making new friends. He was veteran of the U.S. Navy serving during the Korean Conflict. He was member of the Hobart Baptist Church. The family would like to thank St. Ann's Nursing Home and Odyssey Hospice for their loving and compassionate care. He was an avid golfer and enjoyed playing his guitar. Betty and J.D. taught round dancing lessons. He was preceded in death by his parents, James and Millie Brown, and a sister, Mary Ellen Doe. SUVIVIORS: Wife: Betty Brown of Pampa. 1 daughter: Suzanne J. Stanton and husband Troy Don of White Deer. 1 brother: Bobby Joe Brown of Ponca City, Oklahoma. 1 sister: Nancy Heard of Kansas, Oklahoma. 1 grandson: Jimmie Don Stanton and wife Constance of Little Elm, Texas and numerous nieces and nephews.
